I noticed the bow in top of the 2014 fairing when I changed the windshield. I checked the bikes at the dealer and all of them where the same. It is apparent a design issue.
The angle of the shield causes a little gap but it is tight further down. Try sliding a piece of paper down the gap and it wont go. I see no need for concern?? Harley fairings have never been waterproof.
[QUOTE=WolfDog;12007213]Go to dealer, I hate to say it buts that's **** poor QC.
Something not assembled correctly.
Forgive me but you didn't change out the windshield?[/
No I haven't changed out the windshield and yes I went to the dealer they said where told by Harley that it's was designed for a thicker windshield, but then they used a thinner one. Maybe when the triple storage bag is designed and hits the street. It should have a flange and take up some room.
i have this gap on my 13 UC. never really gave it much thought but yeah i guess water can get in. Ill prob just put some thin weather strip tape on it. Dealer makes everything worse anyway. U night turn one set of problems into another set of problems at dealer. Unless something major or i absolutley cant fix, ill do myself. Learned my lesson in the first 2 weeks i owned my bike about dealer.
Mine did not look like that either, I do not know if adding the windshield trim will help or not, I have installed the trim on mine and it is not bulging out like that.
Have you tried backing out all the fairing screws? Do that and tighten the shield bolts last. The middle screw on your photo looks overtightener
+1. But my '14 FLHTK was delivered that way as well (I think they all are). I suspect the 'windshield engineer' and 'fairing engineer' didn't communicate. Funny, I'd expect all this stuff was modeled in 3D...
If I ever get it back, I might sneak a plastic washer down their to take us the gap.
As another poster said, I'd see how deeply the gap runs; there things never were waterproof.
