Just making the windshield material thicker will not resolve the gap issue. The windshield would have to have a variable thickness that matches the curvature of the gaps to seal it. Thats very expensive to do on a manufacturing scale & the end result, seeing that the bow gap varies from bike to bike, may cause a bigger issue than it solves.
Ok here's a photo !! It doesn't give you a clear view but the faring bows out far enough that it looks like crap.
I found this thread after doing a search on "Fairing Gap". I just noticed it on my '14. It is exactly like the photo, probably an 1/8" gap on either side of the middle screw. Sucks that others have the same thing, but good to know that mine's not "busted".
On the other hand, the bike is awesome in all other ways.
Maybe you could try installing a chrome metal windshield strip, that might take some of the bulge out, just a thought.
I installed the windshield trim piece and that really helped. Have owned several HD touring bikes, they all have some distortion. Not worth working about IMHO. I love the 14 Limited.
Is any one having the same issue. Where the faring meets the windshield the faring is bowing out between the screws leaving a gap that water could run down an in. Showed my dealer and Harley response was they changed the thickness of the windshield to a thinner one.
I noticed the same thing the first day I brought mine home. Everyone I talked to had the same issue. I believe ( just my .02) that they purposely made it that way to let air go through and keep the heat moving past you. All part of cooling off the rider, after the last model years where you could roast a chicken in your lap!!!
They did that on purpose to see how long it would take for someone to start whining about it.Damn Harley Riders,Never Happy. I was to busy riding mine to notice that big ol gap.
Here is the one I put on..tightened up the gaps nicely.. The inward bow is caused because of the air vent. the center bolt passes through the top of the vent.
I've got a 2014 Limited. I just went out to the garage to look at mine. No gaps at all. I put a 7" windscreen on mine, then the chrome strip months ago at different times. Both times I never saw a gap and I'm very particular. I think it's a matter of getting the windscreen in there properly and torquing the screws properly.

I already went through positioning the windshield and not tightening down the center screw to tight but that doesn't fix the issue. The center screw is too loose to stay in there if you don't tight it fairly tight but in doing so it causes a bow in the fairing.
