Anyone Know?
Anyone know why the headlight receptacle for a 2010 Fat boy is smaller than the receptacle for the 2010 Ultra Classic. I want to install my Truck-Light from the 2010 Ultra on a 2010 Fatboy. When I went to do it the Truck-Lite prongs were much larger than the Fatboy receptacle
headlight plugs ( the plastic part) are really just to locate the wiring terminal that the prongs go into.
the prongs should have the same fit either way.
and since the LED draws much less power than a regular light you shouldn;t have any problems with heat damaging the plastic or the wiring.
if you have exposed parts of the plug/prongs, wrap with electrical tape
any rider who opens this up and sees signs of heat damage should replace with a high heat version from the auto parts store

both bulbs are H4 bulbs...
if there is a discrepancy then I'd think it was some sort of adapter plug that came with the TL to plug into your 2010 Ultra harness. Might want to go look for that

My TL setup didn't come with any kind of adapter, H-4 plug-n-play with all 3 lights. If his plug on the FB wont plug up, then it sounds like its not an H-4 plug, and has been messed with. Just a redneck guess I am throwing out there. OP, can you snap a pic of your plug on the FB and the TL together side by side so we can see what you are talking about?

Sorry I can't take photo right now. The std headlight on the 2010 FB has 3 narrower tabs than there are on the Truck-lite and the Ultra headlight. The FB headlight has the Harley shield on the center of lens so it is not a off brand.
The headlight recepticle of the FB will not accept the 3 tabs of the Ultra/Truck-Light headlight. Bottom line is that the FB and Ultra headlight recepticles are different.

I got mine from eastern performance, there might be some kind of adapter that you can buy, I would try that route. Try this link, might help you. Good luck. http://www.cycleterminal.com/headlight-connectors.html
100% agree. Softails (as well as many other models) have come with H4 bulbs as far back as I can remember.. back to at least 88 if not longer... Something ain't right here.. maybe the pre-owner of the FB put in HID or something else...

converted my wifes bike from a old seal beam to the newer H4 Harley head light and plugs were the same , something is wrong here cause all the 3 prong plugs I have seen are the same , you could go to a parts house and get a new plug and see if it fits , if the light fit your old bike I would have to say the problem is with the new bike
