Default Jump Starting

Just bought a 2013 Road Glide. First bike I ever owned with a cigarette lighter. I was wondering if I am able to jump start the bike using one of those cigarette lighter battery starters? Not sure if I should purchase one of those or not, I have been stranded before.......

thanks,
jd

Welcome and I wouldn't recommend it (plug-in starter)...better option is to get battery tender and keep it maintained/topped off. In time, you can tell when battery's getting weak...your 2013 should last 4-5 years until swap's needed.

Thanks Iceman! It's in storage without electric, so I guess I'll be pulling the battery. Was hoping to avoid that, but better safe than sorry....

I agree with Iceman24, pull the battery for storage. Still I have never used one of those lighter type jump starters either. Do they work?

Buy a solar powered battery tender. A basic one costs about 20 bucks.

Or you can get the one from Deltran (Battery Tender) for about 80 bucks that includes a regulator. http://batterytender.com/products/so...lar-panel.html

Cig plug will not handle the amps.
Tender plug won't either.
Yousa jumpers for motorcycles available on Amazon, about $15.
Small, good clips, stow on the bike.
Clip to the starter, any ground; non running battery on other end.
Comes with a neat little bag, too.

And the stinking battery cost like 180 at the dealer. Ask me how I know.

I haven't tried it,but someone else said that the cig lighter is not in contact with battery with the ignition off. So,you can't use it for a charging plug in either.
