Default progressive suspension rear shock length

I talked with customer service about their rear shocks and the actual eye-to-eye length. She said they are true measurement on the bench (unloaded) and that they would sag slightly when installed under the weight of just the bike. I measured the stock 1s on my SG just sitting there (nothing but the weight of the bike) - 12". I load my bike pretty heavy once a month for overnight, 2-up, camping and dont need to lose any more travel. So what I am asking is for anyone that has 412s or 440s on their bike, what is the advertised length vs the actual installed length. Trying to figure out a sag ratio. If it is 1/8" - no big deal but if its 1/2", that might be too much initial sag forwhen I am fully loaded and might want to buy 12.5". i dont want my tire in the fender or wiring harness.

Thanks in advanced.

Andy

They sell standard and HD( stronger spring rate) shocks in about all models of progressive, I would buy your stock size just in the hd version. On there web site if you search it you can find the total list of shocks with the rated pound capacity.

Yeah - I guess I should have said more - I talked to them about about STD springs vs HD springs. If ordering 412s = HD, 440s=STD. She said withonly me on the bike, the 440 HD would ride like a hay wagon. I am thinking about the 412s just to try a set and I can get new 412 HD 12" for $185 shipped... 440s are what $400+. i know the 440sare lifetime shocks but that is a big difference in price. I am just trying to find out real world info so I can make the best decision. I did do a search and there are users with FLHxxx bikes on here that are running 412s happily. Just curious about the "sag".

Again - I am not looking for spring rating - that is published. I am looking for the real eye-to-eye measurement of installed shocks on the bike with the bike unloaded sitting on its 2 wheels and jiffy stand... no rider, no passenger, no gear. They claim there is a sag. So if you bought 13"s - what do they measure? - 12.750"? -12.875"? - 13"? If you have 12"s - what do they measure? - 11.5"? - 11.875"? - -12"?

Your not going to have sag without a load, there is not enough weight up top to compress the springs. When we put the 412s on my sons wide glide it had no sag sitting there. Not untill he sat on bike did it go down about a inch, but all of them have 5 presets that was on the sofetest. They were the hd version, he is 240 lb.

I dont think that that the statement that your scoot would ride like a 'hay wagon' with only you on it with the HD progressive springs is quite accurate.

I can tell you that I only weigh 170 pounds and had progressive 412HDs that were 1" shorter than stock on my road king and the bike handled ten times better than stock. Even with the bike loaded down with gear and a passenger it still handled way better than stock.

The money I spent on the 412HDs was probably the best enhancement to my road king, can't wait to get em on my ultra. Go with the 412HDs, eastern performance out of gambrills MD has great prices.

I got the 12"412's no sag, I also went with the HD springs. I set the springs on the 2nd click and it rides great. Much better than stock, no "wallow."

Thanks - their customer service said that for my application I should buy 412HDs or 440STDs. She said the 440HDs (not the 412HDs) would be too stiff rding solo for me. And yes, i love dealing with Eastern Performance.. have been for years. He has great prices and shipping is lightning fast. I wish he carried all parts I needed.

Based on this, I will probably be placing an order soon - 12" 412HDs from Eastern Performance.
