Functionally, I put lower fairings on my Road King and I've been riding all the way down to 27deg so far this winter without heated gear, just layered my clothes - they make a huge difference.

Seeing as how the air temp gauge is useless, I went ahead and put oil temp gauge in its place. At least i get some useful feedback. I don't obsess over the temp but I now know what the motor is doing. Air gauge is off by about 25 degrees.
Since Ya are towing I'd get a proper tuner and dyno tune. I don't care if everything else is stock. They run lean and hot stock, add a trailer and heat + ping = bad! No need for gauges/fans/coolers if it is tuned properly.
