I was wondering what size diameter the 12" monkey bars are that will fit on a 2014 SGS?? I don't have my new bike yet and would like to preorder and have the dealer install them. I talked to my dealer and they said those would not work on my bike. But as I can see they do. Great post and pics very helpful. I don't think I have the same install skills you do. They do look sick!

Nice look! Any blocking of view from the mirrors?

The bars only come in 1.25" diameter. I can assure you that they will fit your '14! I had the dealer quote me the labor to install these before I decided to do them myself. They quoted me 10 hours at $95.00 an hour. $950.00 to install plus the price of the bars quickly changed my mind! If you have any mechanical ability and a lot of patience, you can do them yourself. Save the $950.00 for other goodies! Good luck with your decision...

I personally have no blocking of the mirrors! I am 5'6" and I get a great view from looking under my arms. Originally I wanted 10" bars but I really wanted to keep the fairing mounted mirrors. After further research, I decided on the 12" version in order to retain the use of the stock mirrors. Am I glad I did!! It gave the bike a whole new attitude along with positioning me in a more comfortable riding posture. I would recommend these bars to anyone!

Just put them on my 14 SGS. Running the wiring through the right side about caused me to quit. I used the Namz extensions too, just put them on after the wire is run through and they barely stick out from the bottom. I tried the weedeater line and wire(couldn't get either to go through all the bends), ended up using some parachute cord with a nut tied to one end. It worked great with a lot of pushing and pulling. That was the longest part of the whole process. Just get them pretty much vertical and test them out.
Best thing to do is plan a bunch of other stuff to do in the fairing so you don't keep tearing into it. I waited to install mine until I was ready to install the xm module, hidden antenna, TL7, and modified rider coms to include passenger coms.

Looks great! Thanks for the details
This answered lot of questions. I was curious about mirrors. One question: if the wires have enough length, do you still need the extensions?
Yaffe posted that 12" fit on new bikes with no extension.

They look great apes are the way to go, that's the first think I put on my bike when I bought it. I agree a slight bend in the elbows, will cut back on fatigue on long hauls. That's not the time to find out. I learned that the hard way when I was younger.

I have the same on my Classic but when you go to pull your wires through use a small strong chain instead of rope and you will find it a hell of a lot easier as it doesn't hang up on the welds best bars Ive ever had and done over 5000 miles with them now very good

I installed the 12" Yaffe monkey bagger bars on my 2014 SGS and they installed just fine. I also read on here where several riders have them installed on their 2014. I had the same experience with just needing to extend the switch cables. I did run the brake and clutch cables better after the photo was taken.
