Default over thinking this?

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a SGS. It'll be my first harley but I've been riding since the '60s.

I've rented SGs before for 4-5day rides and loved the bike.

Why the second thoughts? Well the new Road Glide is due out and everyone including my Harley salesman says 'you really ought to look at the road glides'.

I know the bikes are identical from the fairing back. To see a difference between the SG & RG, wouldn't I need to be on a highway doing 65+ on a windy day? I'm not trying to be a smart *** - isn't that when you'd really noticed the difference between the frame-mounted & fork-mounted fairing?

I live in PA and the the riding season is going to be more limited so I'm not in any big hurry. I've read that the new RG is going to be out January or February.

Should go for the SGS now or wait to see what the redesigned RG is like?

I think the RG is much lighter feeling in slow speed parking lot maneuvers because your not turning the weight of the faring.

If your in P.A. Your riding season is over isn't it? Why not wait till it comes out and see what it looks like?

...this is one of those rare times when it REALLY makes sense to wait.. see what the RG is all about when they re-release it...could be a dud..could be huge..why not wait a little longer...then you'll have NO regrets if you buy the SGS...

Nobody knows when or even if, for sure, the Road Glide will be reintroduced. I would not count on Jan/Feb timeframe. They will also be hard to get for a while when they do come out. Keep that in mind as you make your decision.

Great advice. I'll hold off to see what the new RG is like and buy the best of the two.

I would wait too. It would be disappointing to be like the guys that bought the 13 right before they released the 14 Project Rushmore bikes. If the 14 road glide turns out to be a dud you have not lost anything. Dealers may be more willing to deal during the dead of winter anyway like January and February.
