over thinking this?
I was kinda in the same boat amigo. Recently, I was pretty sold on a RG, and the discounts for it were awesome. I was also eyeing a CVO RK and a SGS. I road them all and ended up loving the SGS. I can tell you from riding the SGS even at speed. I don't notice any pull on the fairing, it isn't hard to ride or anything like that. Harder to maneuver at low speeds? Well compared to my sport bike, yes. But to the others, small difference if any. Not enough to make a huge difference. In the end, I went with what appealed to me most and what I wanted to see in my garage day after day.
I say go for it now. Test ride then buy. Good time to get a discount amigo.

This just proves that everyone is different and you have to find out for yourself which bike fits you. With all due respect to safetyman, I find it to be very true that the batwing fairing is much heavier feeling to maneuver at slow, parking lot speeds. I have also owned all three, Street Glide, Road Glide and Road King. While all three are very maneuverable at parking lot speeds, to me the batwing fairing bike feels heavier at slow speeds.
You can't go wrong with a new SGS. Despite all the rumours, the wait for the new RG is simply playing catch up to the recently released Rushmore bikes.
I'd get the new SGS for Christmas. Who wouldn't want a new SGS under their Christmas tree this year?
I say get the SGS now!
***unless of course you think the new RG is going to have the new 1800CC Revolution X3 engine in it. Then all bets are off.

After riding a streetglide for 4 years and 50,000 miles and now riding a Roadglide Ultra no way would I buy a streetglide again. (Pics of mine in my albums) And I loved my streetglide, I did a lot to it. I might buy a limited but if you tour at all you'll want to improve the ride and the wind deflection on a streetglide. Its easier to strip a limited. You're stuck with the fenders with the limited though. That's kind of expensive to change. I'd either make a good deal on a '13 RG ultra (what I did) or wait for the new Roadglide ultra. The new bikes don't do much for me so I'd make the deal. But I wanted to get off my streetglide before I hit the road for the summer. In your case I'd wait and see. I have almost 10,000 miles on it since May and the Roadglide Ultra is the best touring bike I've had out of a Electraglide, Roadking, or streetglide.
