According to the press release the Hertiage Motorcycle Rally in Charleston ,SC April 13-22, 2007 has been cancelled......go to their web-site for more info.......
All of Charleston was promised that in 2003 by the promoter Dave Harvey when this event started. Today he does not believe that he can provide a safe environment in the Charleston area for this event to be held. It is with great sorrow that this historic event had to be cancelled due to attitudes and behaviors of some persons throughout the motorcycle community.
Effective immediately the 2007 Heritage Motorcycle Rally (also know as Bike Week Charleston) in Charleston, South Carolina has been cancelled. This cancellation includes all concerts, bike shows, car show, the Million Dollar Bike Build-Off and all other events scheduled to be held at the Exchange Park Fairgrounds and/or Kicknhorse Saloon during what was called the Heritage Motorcycle Rally. This cancellation is for 2007 and all other years following.
All concert ticket holders will receive a refund on ticket purchases. Please request refunds from the place of purchase. All radio and television stations participating in promotions have been informed of the decision to cancel the Heritage and all its associated events. All area Hotels and selected national motorcycle magazines are being notified of the event cancellation to help prevent persons coming into Charleston from traveling here for this event. The websites have been changed to reflect the cancellation as well.
The Heritage staff has always presented this event as a safe, âFamily Orientedâ National Motorcycle Event. And with the combined efforts of most of the motorcycle organizations in the area that has been the case.

Dunno what the issue(s) were/are, but from the sounds of it, some of the attendees were the issue - be interesting to know jest what wuz goin' on.
Some thought is that this is due to the fight that occured at last years rally. I remember the incident (fight and person nearly beaten to death during Kid Rock concert), but can't find the origional story from the local news stations websites.
There have always been money issues with Dave. Last year the turn out was not good, admission prices were too high, vendors where upset due to space cost and turn out. Why do you have to buy a ticket to spend money? I personally thought the Rally Sucked!
Payin' rally admission don't really bother me - gettin' everything together in one place is a lot of work, an' it costs money ta set it up. Ah lahk being able ta go ta one place to look at everythang at one time - my wallet may not appreciate it, but...
Charleston would be a great place to hold the SC state HOG rally. Maybe the crowd would be a little less ... obnoxious (politiclly correct/mod friendly term). Maybe HDF member can do a weekend meet and great there??? Any locals from that area interested in sharing some riding routes?
Charleston is not a Biker friendly city. It doesn't like motorcycle parking. Parking garages exclude bikes, cops ticket for more than one bike on a meter. Old South tradition, lost back in the day. Charleston riders go other places to ride. There is a reason there has never been a State HOG Rally in Charleston. Kind of like the one in Columbia last year, it sucked!
