Nice idea, but mafugly in its own right! Looks like a quality piece tho, would the extendable wings be usable for you? If so, go for it. If not, there might be some others available that are nicer looking. Would suggest that you get the quick docking hardware for your tour pak either way ya go, you know what happens when the womens wanna ride!!!
I have that in chrome. VERY nice and can be expanded to be large. Very heavy and well built but at four bills its pricey. I paid 329.00 at LSHD last year. A bit easier to swallow...

I'm thinking it would be a nice compromise for a Tour Pak. With the "wings" extended, you could put a decent sized piece of luggage on it. The wife rides with me 95% of the time, but she's happy with her Backrest.
