Detachable Locking Hardware Help, something is not adding up..
I bought the Detachable Locking Hardware and it seems to me that there should be a right and left side, but my Detachable Locking Hardware appear to be the same, I Googled some images and it all looks like it should. My problem is the left side the key is into the seat but i can get access but the right side is right into the sissy bar. i can not get the key in the lock. What am i doing wrong?
lol, i thought the same, if you swap sides you get the same results. the pieces are exactly the same. I would think there should be a right and left like the stock pieces.
I could be wrong but I think most people put only one lock on per device.
I've always used one on the right side (since it's the easiest to get to) and left the left side stock.
And it looks like the barrel locks on yours are screwed up or something.
Is the spring supposed to be out like that? I could just be getting old. I dunno.

lp
You only need to put one lock on per device.
I have mine on the right side also.
The directions say use 1 per detachable device. Also if I remember the directions talk about reversing the direction of the lock to accommodate the key fitting . My spring/lock looks the same as the pic.
Ahh only one per device.. the spring is up cause its unlocked, i wanted to make sure it works before i lock it. i think ill take the right side off as that one dont fit right.
thanks guys. I must have missed the one per device in the instruction. Why do they sell you 2 in a kit?
I did find in another post that they are bending the key to make it fit. for the money these cost, they should work without monkey business.
I hear ya. Yeah the reason I didn't remember the spring thing is because I actually broke the center out of the one I have now awhile back while doing what you're doing. lol Oh well.
