I am getting a tour pack to solid mount and will be using the mount on the Ultra models. I got the rack and strut covers off an Ultra model. What else am I going to need to mount this on the bike. I'd like to have everything all lined up when the TP arrives.
Bolts to mount the rack to the bike frame. Bolts to mount the TP to the rack. Is the TP the new style that bolts flat to the rack? If it's the old style TP you may need the round horseshoe tube and spacers as well. Any lights on the TP?
Why solid mount as opposed to quick detach? I like the versatility provided by the quick detach, and it's far more solid than the pre-09 setups... Plus I have locks on it.
One of my buddies has the detachable and it rattles like mad. I also want it solid mount so it is not so easy to steal.
Huh. I thought that was the pre-09 version with the super-narrow plastic bushings. These bushings are way wider. The newer ones rattle too? I've never heard of that...
The theft angle is much more important. I could always get steel bushings but since it won't be coming off solid mount is how I roll. After having my bags stolen I take no chances.
