Another update.... The vent assembly finally arrived and had it installed today. Problem solved. While the bike was in the service dept, I checked out a couple of the vents on the bikes on the showroom floor. Big difference, no movement of the little flap. Mine was really loose
I bought a 2014 Street Glide Special a month ago and I noticed after a couple days that the fairing vent rattles and buzzes at around 2500 RPM's. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this also. I am taking to the dealer tomorrow for the 1000 mile service and am going to tell them about it. Don't want to get the "I never heard anyone have that problem" response. Figure I would see if anyone else is hearing this buzz I am getting.
If I close the vent the rattle/buzz goes away. But I can actually see the little flap thingy vibrate & buzz when it's open.
It's getting annoying and I feel a $23000 motorcycle shouldn't have buzzes & rattles.

I'll keep you posted on what they found or changed.
I had a buzzing too that I thought may have been the same thing. I actually found it was coming from the push button fuel door. I still get it occasionally but give it a tap and it stops. If it continues I may buy a key lock for it.
That kind of a problem is becoming more and more common over the last 5 or 6 years since the MOCO reorganized. When you source your parts from the cheapest bidder in the world, (probably china) you have got to expect that sort of thing.
My brother can't figure out why the retail price of the new bikes has not come down so much as ten cents if all the assembled parts now come from china and other foreign countries. I've tried to explain it all to him several times but he just can seem to get his head around it.

I honestly find the build quality of both Harleys I've owned to be quite high. I don't know what kind of vehicles you are comparing a 2014 HD to, but I've got a 2012 Jeep and a 2013 Audi. The Jeep is more like you're describing. The HD and the Audi are top notch in fit and finish and I'm a picky ****.
With any complex manufactured vehicle there are going to be issues. It's how those issues are handled by the manufacturer. Those few with rattling vents don't seem to have any issue getting them replaced.
