Was wondering if anyone else is still on their original battery, on a bike that is about 5 years old. My bike's mileage is really low, about 15,000 miles. It's been plugged into the battery tender after every ride, and throughout the winter months. Any alternatives ? other than the stock HD replacement ? Yuasa, Oddesy ?
Thanks,
Joe
Still on my original battery too. Same bike , same year.
I'd also add that a big factor could be the long-term weather conditions you live in. In the Bay Area of California, where we have predominantly warmer weather, the battery can last a lot longer than states that have cold weather and put more of a load on the battery at start-up.
Thanks for all the replies fellas. I'm in Canada, couple hours north of Buffalo, NY. It can get damn cold in the winter months, so bike is in the garage, always on the tender. This year, it's spending the winter at the dealer. I've never heard of AGM batteries. Are they available in Canada ? Thanks again,...guess that'll be on my shopping list this spring.
I still have the original battery in my 2008 FLHTC. Was going strong in October when I last had a chance to ride it. It is now on a battery tender waiting for the next warm day and I'll see if it is still going to start.
Your current battery is probably AGM, which is the type of internal design, not a brand. There are many batteries available that will fit, including the old liquid acid type, but they have lower performance and don't last so long.
