I have the JES ones in black and they're hardly noticeable (black Ultra),and don't smell any fumes whether riding or stationary.
I have JES in black on my black limited. They blend in better and are hard to notice. OP, you should look into the black ones because the chrome ones are destroying the look of your bike (sorry..got to call it like I see it).
I run the JES deflectors with a 10" fastaire screen. Solved all my wind issues. I had the fork center baffle, but took it off. It seemed to cause air to be sucked in from the rear after the fork deflectors were installed.
I was concerned about how they would look initially, but I don't really notice them anymore. The black ones just blend in.
I take them off in the warmer months, i keep them on for about 4 months out of the year. I don't think they look too bad and they do improve the buffeting.
I've had the curved under fork dish thing on a few bikes and never really noticed a real difference...It does say in the installation material not to run it in the summer months due to redirecting the air that should go to the heads.lp
Odd, the instructions that came with my HD baffle don't mention anything about only running in cool weather... nor does the HD website. Not a big deal though, the baffle did absolutely nothing for my buffeting issues.
Hadn't heard about the tank rise helping this out. Just ordered the full monte. We'll see how it works.
Thanks Kevin!
I ran a pair on my 2010 SG that I purchased on eBay. I absolutely loved them for what they did to calm the air flow from under the tank. I never had any heat issues riding here in Texas and left them on year round.
How can I say this?? You're riding a motorcycle & going to get wind. A taller windshield will help, but doesn't look a cool. I had a 07 FLHT STD & had no issues. When I bought my 2011 FLTRX, I had a 14" WindVest installed, before it left the dealership. I choose comfort over looking cool. If you do go for a taller W/S, do some research before you end up with 3 or 4 W/S in your garage. Good Luck.

Cool, let us know what you notice. Before you install it, put your hand up at the front of the tank, all the way across, then do that after the install.
For some this reduction in air flow over the top of the tank will eliminate buffeting, for others it just reduces it, and for others it make no perceptible change. So many variables...how tall, slouching to sitting up straight, etc.
For most it's not eliminating the wind it's that annoying buffeting effect that drive crazy and the combination of accesories and shields make the ride more stable...When i want wind i ride my Dyna.
What won't work with Motolights? The fork wind deflectors? How do the fork wind delfectors interfere with Motolights bolted to the calipers?
If you mean Motolights bolted directly behind the wind deflectors on the crash bars; I'd say if somebody couldn't see that, no light in this world is bright enough.
