I just bought a 2014 Street Glide Special and so far love it.. I've owned 7 or 8 bikes (HD) but this is the first one that has a cover over the gas cap.. Is it me or shouldn't the door open away from you.. I think it would be easier to fuel up.. Anyone know of a kit that flips it around..
I've asked the question for years. If it was made to open to the front obviously they would make it so it only opens so far (and didn't hit the dash) so that's not really an excuse. Just sayin.
So after years of asking and asking... finally I heard something that kinda makes sense. Reason: All motorcycle fuel doors (least in America) have to open towards the rider for safety considerations. In the event of an accident they don't want the door to pop open and have the rider get impaled on it - or something.
Serious thought to our safety there huh. Thanks safety engineer... Yay my crotch is safe! Too bad about the rest of my body
