Hey ya'll....I am wanting to get into a solo seat for my RKC. I prefer a lowered look and like a riding position that is further back and down from stock. I've replaced my stock bars, which I disliked, with WO550 Wild One Beach Bars so the bars are a little further back than stock...thankfully. Has anyone had experience with the DG Buttcrack or the HD Brawler? I like the looks of both, but cannot decide. Any thoughts are appreciated!
Is that right? I had planned on sending either one to MCC to have gel put in to make it more comfortable (if necessary), but didn't know they were basically the same seat. The ***-thetics of the butt crack is more appealing. Wait...did I just say that?
you might check but I don think in a seat that low profile they can do much for seat mods. atleast thats what they told me. I run the CVO seat from a 12 road glide CVO. it's low profile, but has a little softer padding. and I like the stitching. Brawler and CVO solo are about the same for all around comfort.
Had a Brawler on my '10 Street Glide. "Down and back" is correct. The seat itself was comfortable for my butt, however, I had to reach too far forward (had stock SG bars) and ended up with lower back pain within 45 minutes. One thing I didn't like about the Brawler was that it did not fit tight to the tank console. About a 1/4'' to 3/8'' gap that always bothered me. Don't know if it's that way with all of them or if I had a weird seat.
Fitment for the tank...and my *** is important. Piesik, I have always liked the look of that seat. I don't know if I can just order that or not. I will have to check. That is one of the things I noticed right off the bat when they were first put on the bikes. A very good look. I will call MCC about the gel and lower profile seats. Makes sense that they may not be able to maintain the look of the seat.
You can just get the seat, and add the pillion if you want but hold on to you nuts cause those cost more then the seat, and the price for just the seat is the same as a brawler. not sure if it's the look or what you want but here are the part numbers. my brawler fit tight and my CVO fits tight. so I dunno what you had for the problem.
I have the Big Solo seat, definitely sits me further back and lower, it has the reciver for the backrest but never bought it as the seat provides support to my lower back. I think the main difference between the two (buttcrack and big solo is the width at the back, the cutout and profile look the same.
I have the Brawler- I use it around Town. For dayrides a SG seat, for touring the Ultra seat ( and I swap windscreens to match seated height.
I doubt I'd use the Brawler for long days.
Being aged (it feels like it anyways), the Brawler put stress on my hips. rather than lifting foot off floorboards and down when stopped, the seating position requires lifting the whole leg from the hip to drop it down...and then lifting the whole leg from teh hip to get it back up.
That may not be a concern for you.
2.) before getting a solo seat, ensure that your fender is not damaged from your current seat
I have no experience with current DG seats, I knew him slightly before the early 90's and he was hands on and his stuff had a good rep.
