Default Riders backrest question

First off I would like to thank everyone on this site for your previous advice. My friend and I just ordered 2014 ultra classics today. With that said, I get 15% off parts for the first 30 days so I would like to order stuff during that timeframe. I'm looking at a riders backrest but wanted some input. I had the adjustable riders backrest on my 2006 streetglide with the sundowner touring seat and found that it pushed me too far forward. Is this a characteristic of the adjustable only or will the non adjustable do the same thing?

The non adjustable has four different sets of holes, attached to the fender, that will set the rest where you want it. There is also an adjustment screw in the backrest to set the angle. Hope this helps.

I don't know anything about the HD backrest, but I know my Mustang is adjustible enough to set me right where I want to be.

The one I had on my streetglide had the gas piston and could be adjusted on the fly. It was a waist of money because I didn't like the feeling of being pushed forward so I never used the backrest. I plan on doing more long rides on this bike so I would like to give the backrest another shot.

I hav the adjustable on my 06 Ultra and it to pushed me forward too much. However I fixed that by placing the backrest bracket in a vise and just bending it a bit. Bent it enough to have plenty of room...

I have the HD non-adjustable. Like zoom said, there are 4 holes to adjust forward and back. There are also 3 holes to adjust the height of the backrest pad itself. It took me a few tries to get it set where I wanted it. It does make a huge difference in comfort on long rides.

installed the non-adjustable one today. Sat on the bike in the garage and it felt good. There is adjustment with the mounting hardware and with the angle of the back rest. You can get it from Kutter HD for 20% off. Now I will wait till warmer weather to try it out.

Which non-adjustable rider backrests are you guys using? I do about half of my riding 2-up and was wondering if I should be looking at these, to give my wife more leg room:

For the most passenger room I like the Mustang backrest. It fits the stock seat just fine. Mutch narrower than the HD version. I guess thinner is what I am trying to say. The wife liked the extra room. That and the tourpack relocating bracket.
