I have a 08 ultra with HD booms in the front and rear. I just put the booms in last year so they are keepers. I now have been thinking of the Hogtunes amp NCA40.4 At highway speed the sound is ok but a little more punch would be better. Does anyone have this combo of speakers and amp and how do you like it? The simplicity of the hook up is real nice and all the functions still work in the HK unit like the fader and the AVC. thanks Jeff
I have that amp, but I'm just powering 2 Hogtunes fairing speakers.
I'm not an audiophile so it sounds fine to me.
My only problem is I've lost my FM signal and clarity.
It helps to ask questions, I had no idea that you give up most of your FM with these cheaper amps.
I probably would have spent a little more money on something else had I known.
You will probably get more replies if you post your question in the "Audio Systems" section. Good luck.

My friend has the 40.4 and boom speakers on his 2009 CVO and he is very satisfied with it with no loss of FM signal. I think you got a bad amp. Call Pez up and maybe he will exchange it for you.

Been dealing with this for almost 2 years.
Hogtunes is a top notch shop with fantastic customer service.
They have replaced the amp 3 different times with the same result.
I finally just gave up. Just got discouraged and tired of removing my fairing every 3 months to replace it.

I had the same issue last yr with the amp and FM.He sent me another amp and problem solved.
I have 4 boom speakers, tweeter pod and lower woofers. The booms & tweeter use the nc40. The woofers use the 70 amp. I'm satisfied with My system. At freeway speeds it's great. Going on My second year with this system , no issues yet. There is always better, but a simple install and reading the reviews sold Me.
I had the HogTunes amp on my 2007 Ultra. It sounded great when it had good connections for the ground and the jumper power hook-up to turn it on. I was always pulling the fairing off to check those connections when I started getting unusual static or popping. I finally got rid of the plug connections and hard wired them both and problem was solved. I guess the vibration inside the fairing can be a gremlin at times.
I have had many of the same problems that have been listed here. I have a 2013 RG and I currently have J&M speakers in my fairing with HogTunes saddlebag lid speakers (just installed yesterday). I also now have the NCA 40.4 in the fairing. The NCA 40.4 is a replacement of my NCA 70.2, which basically made me loose all reception of all FM stations (I also have the antenna hidden in my fairing). HogTunes was incredible with their phone support when I was having reception problems. They told me why it was making me loose reception and offered to replace the 70.2 with their 40.4 and before you knew it, I received it via UPS.
The install of the 40.0 was just as easy as the install of the 70.2.
I did however decide to have the dealer install my saddlebag speaker lids, because I just didn't feel comfortable drilling trough the saddlebags. Also, the dealer just installed the XM module at the same time as the saddlebag lids.
Excessive labor, but that's my fault for not wanting to do it myself.
My latest problem is that although I have a fader option on the standard HK radio, the fader is basically working like a volume ****. In other words, I do not have fader functionality between the fairing speakers and the saddlebag lid speakers.
I don't know enough about audio electronics, but its as if I only have 1 pair of speakers, yet all four speakers are working. When I fade to the rear ALL four speakers turn off. This is not good because I want to increase the volume on the rear speakers because they are harder to hear. I have read all of the post about this, but I guess I am electronically challenged because it doesn't make sense to me. Why would I have a fader function on the radio, along with a 4 channel amp and yet I am not able to fade between front and rear speakers.
I have a four channel amp so I think I should be able to have control of 2 different pairs of speakers.
