2014 Electrical Question
I know there was a post previously talking about the AUX switches on a 2104.
That thread has appeared to end with no direction or further info, so I thought I might start it fresh and see if anyone has acquired any new info as to what can be added onto a new Touring Bike with the unused clusters in the dash panel.
I am having my seat modifications done and one add-on to that is a heater, sure would be nice to control it from one of those spare switches vs the switch being installed in the seat. Also, as others would like to do, be able to turn on and off other forms of Auxiliary or Garage door opener.
Any one hear or learn anything new in the last few months?

On the SG (and probably all the others without passing lamps) there is a harness on each side connected to one "blank" that covers all three swich holes. I'm assuming you can remove the blanks and install switches which connect to those harnesses. I made my own garage door opener with a project box from Radio Shack and a spare opener. I then bought a black momentary switch from O'Reilly Auto Parts for a few dollars. I drilled a hole in one of the blanks and inserted the switch through it and put some epoxy around it so it stayed in place (see pic). Matches perfectly and cost me only a few bucks!
for the GD, check the sticky on DIY mods and tricks...9000 posts on teh GD.
but the smart way ( IMHO) is to wire a relay to the highbeam or horn or directional indicator.
no holes, hands stay on controls and top secret.
had a look at a 14 the other day...odd design with so many blanks on the limited

For the seat heater--you having MCC do it? If so, the switch they put in the seat is very nice and makes the install much easier. I was considering doing what you're thinking about (using one the acc switches,) but if I had it to do over again, I'd do the seat switch again. Good luck either way!
