I mistakenly got an early 5 pole ignition switch to replace my 6 pole - does anyone have a diagram for the 5 pole? I'm sure that I can make it work.
just use your electrical volt meter and see where the juice is when switch is - off - on - lights. you should have no problems's. let me know how you make out.
heres the diagram I used to wire my Shovel
as shrktooth said use you test light or volt meter to check the switch. Its pretty simple, draw a diagram before you take all of the wires off your old switch and of course disconnect the battery before starting the project.
go to www.shovelhead.us When you log into the website and scroll to the bottom there is a direct link to wiring diagrams. Covers most models. Not sure what year HD went from 5 to 6 pole switch but you will defintiely find diagrams for both.
Thanks Panz. those look to be from the Harley manuals kind of a pain to read, I took my high light marker and traced the wires I needed after I copied them from my manual. Heres the direct link to the wiring page
