The Harley "wave"
I have an 06 Road King Classic and my wife has an 07 Honda Rebel 250. When I ride on Front Beach Road on my wife's Rebel, I usually don't get "the wave" from you HOG riders. Some of you "carelessly" wave and may or may not realize the "mistake" you made. Why do ya suppose that is?
Don't ya all know I'm still the same person and my bike is a Harley?

I rode a Gold Wing for 13 years and waved at everything. Some HD riders waved back some did not. Never bothered me. Now I ride a 2006 Street Glide and I still wave at everything on 2 wheels. I even wave at kids on mopeds. Still some wave and some don`t. Still does not bother me either way. I am just enjoying the ride. Maybe those who don`t wave have more on their mind.

Having just got off a sportbike and still wearing a pretty 'loud' full-face helmet, I too give a wave to anyone on 2 wheels. Then again, when just out riding, my bike has the Department's tall pole light on it with a black cover, covered front lamps, and other LEDs that aren't lit up, so I'm sure I'm quite a sight that no one knows what to make of when I ride past![sm=insomnia.gif]
Because you're riding a Honda REBEL!! Even Honda riders consider that to be a moped

Ioften acknowledge other riders on the road, but sometimes - usually safety reasons - I don't. If there's a lot of traffic or some pinhead car-jockey in front of me has decided to do something wonderfully moronic, I'm busy and would rather concentrate on staying alive and would hope the rider in the oncoming lane would forgive the lack of greeting. Sometimes I nod my head and smile instead of giving a wave - forgetting I'm wearing a visor and my grin is all but invisible. Also there are timesI honestly don't register another bike coming at me - whether he/she is hidden by a van, I am thinking about the intersection ahead, whatever - until they are literally beside me and I don't have time. There is alsothe 'adozen bikers have just ridden by in rapid sequence and I getlazy after waving at all of them' excuse - no defense for that one I guess.
My bottom line is: I've had Triumphs, a Yamaha, and now a Harley Road King.I ride because I like to ride, not because I want to show off, or am arrogant about my particular choice of wheels. I respect and try to treat with courtesy ALL other riders. I wave when I can and it's safe -butI don't lose sleep about it either.I also try not to second guess the riders around me - if they don't wave back, I'm sure they have their reasons.
Just my thoughts - Don

I've been riding for 43 years and wave at everyone with one exception ..when at Sturgis and riding the back roads of the Black Hills, it's a constant line of motorcycles and just too many to wave to. I've even waved at Gold Wing riders .. although some are so shocked they don't wave back until they've passed by. The biker community is a friendly bunch, no matter what they ride. Heck, they can't help it if they've never had the pleasure of riding a Harley.
