I'm a big fan of Amsoil. I tried it years ago when my road king had clunky shifting from using conventional oil. After putting in Amsoil it smoothed it out and I run it in everything I own.
Sorry if I implied that. Didn't mean to. I think is strange and slick that MOCO hides that. Just a ploy to further enhance their revenue stream IMO.
Again, they do specify the SH spec in the manual, which as far as I know, is an API gasoline engine spec
Since my bike is out of warranty, and I use a 15-50 car oil, truly not concerned what totally matches Harley's engine oil since I somewhat agree with post 45. However not sure with what is on Harleys bottle how you can blanket state 'Any name brand oil, dino or syn 20/50, will MEET or EXCEED HD's specs for engine oil'. to back up you used the correct oil if the rare case you had an engine failure and Harley motor company said they would not honor warranty.

Well that was not my statement. I do however agree with it
As with all things Harley Davidson, the magic is in the marketing. Not in the product. For the most part, we've all fallen prey to a VERY good spin organization.
Mobil 1 syn 20/50, K&N 171B, Belray in the primary, and Spectro 75w/140 in the tranny which made the whine go away (sometimes Amsoil but its awful pricey IMHO)
