Congrats on the bike, man.
Evidently few here know what a Street Glide looks like.
Here is something I would definitely check out asap - the cam chain tensioners. That is, unless you already know your motor has been updated to a gear drive or hydraulic set-up.
Other than that ride on and enjoy.

OP,

I ride an '06 Street Glide. Love it!

You can see my mods and upgrades in my signature. I put a lot of Ultra stuff on mine (Tour Pak, fairing lowers, etc.) for touring. I'm sure if you wanted that look, you would have bought an Ulta instead of an FLHX. But I will discuss a few things you might find relevant.

First of all, I will tell you that those highway pegs are NOT the original Street Glide passenger pegs relocated. You should be able to score a set on eBay. Guys often pull them off to put on passenger foot boards. Google "Streamliner passenger pegs" to see what they look like. They match your other foot controls. They make Streamliner passenger foot boards if you prefer those.

In my experience, the first generation Street Glide 12" shocks ('06-'08) don't have enough travel and bottom out too easily. I took the cheap route and threw on a pair of 13" shocks from an Ultra (eBay). Of course it looks better lower, but my wife and I do way too much two-up touring fully loaded. Needed better shocks.

I threw an 18" Street Glide front wheel on mine ('11-'13), also from eBay. Did more than anything else to upgrade the look of the bike to a new(er) one.

Did the cam tensioners at 40,000 (they were about 1/4 worn and could have gone further). Did a big bore kit and cams too, but that was just for the fun factor.

I like your idea of a tall windshield in the winter, and a shorter one in the warm weather... that's what I do.

On the subject of your air cleaner... the Screamin' Eagle open element (i.e., high performance or "Stage 1") air cleaner for our bikes will work behind the stock "football" chrome air cleaner cover. That's what mine has. Looks stock, but when you reach your fingers behind the chrome cover, it's open in the back and you can see/touch the air cleaner element.

You've got a sweet, low mileage bike there. Enjoy! She's got a LOT of life left in her! I've got 50K on mine and she runs better than new. I'd ride her from coast to coast (and do!).

I dig what you've done with your bike. im going to eventually be doing a few of the same things (Saddlebag guards, 13" shocks, skulls). but my main concern right now is just getting the 'basics' i need for running around town, which makes the passenger pegs and fuel-pak a priority (may eventually change the slip-ons to something quieter when i have some free cash, or when the neighbors file more noise complaints, lol)

serious question-where can one find some nice chromed Skull accessories that aren't neccesarily ***** G, nor Kuryakyn?

Thanks!

Okay, now we're going to get flamed for talking about our skulls. :-) But who cares. I dig 'em. Mine are all Willie G stuff from H-D. My skull front fender spear is Kury (or somebody aftermarket). Only reason I put that on was to cover a ding from dropping something on the front fender.

I have pulled the "wrap around" saddlebag guards off, and just have the crash bars immediately in front of the saddlebags at the moment. I go back and forth. Get bored one way and change it.
