Yesterday I bought an 06 street glide, after trading in my old suzuki m50. Total cost after the trade was only $10,500. Not bad for a 06 with only 19,500 miles on it. The dealership put me through the wringer trying to sell me a brand new one, or buy their incredibly expensive service n maintenance packages, and one we had finalized the purchase, they tried to sell me insurance that costed double what my Allstate agent quoted, and then they lost the dang keys for it. I had to wait around for half an hour while the salesman and the shop crew argued over who lost the keys.
But now I have the bike, and so far I love it. Its got the tall windshield, fairing selectors, hooker tuned exhaust, and speedily a high intake air cleaner (looks oem to me, I'm going to investigate it later). The bike had a few nicks n scratches from the previous owner dropping it on its side, but no significant damage. The bike is missing the passenger footpegs, and although it has the quick connect bracket for a sissy bar,it didnt come with one The hooker exhaust is pretty discolored,so im going to order a fuel processor soon to enrich the fuel/air mix. That should hopefully get rid of the popping sounds on deceleration too.
Is there any must-have upgrades or modifications I should investigate besides the fuel processor and intake?
Im planning to add the following over the course of the next year or two
6.5"speakers w/ amp
Short windshield for summer
Saddlebag crash guards
Passenger footrests
But beyond that im uncertain what else ill do yet, any suggestions/advice is appreciated
