I'm sure it will never come to a Lemon Law thing, I love the bike and am confident, like you, that HD will fix it eventually. I just wanted to throw that out to Corporate and give them something to think about, if enough of us complain to Corporate (not the Dealer), eventually we'll get heard. And as I said earlier, I have no problem carrying around a quart of coolant for awhile and topping off on the road if need be. Reservoir was full when I got the bike and after 3 rides and about 250 miles it was down about an inch, not a big deal. The price we pay for being the "test dummies" for new technology I guess...
I'm only able to look at this reasonably because I've yet to have any issues with my 2014 Limited. If mine were actually leaking after 2, 3, 4 or 5 thermostats, I'd be that UN-reasonable idiot yelling and screaming in the service department.
But that doesn't change the fact that this will be solved. It's not that complicated. It's just a leaking elbow. Seriously HD! They got the more obscure "filler neck flexing under high heat issue" solved faster...
I know that "by Texas law" Harley will be given one last chance to do a final repair by an arbitrator. I hope that Harley fixes my bike, but if not I'm fully prepared to have them repurchase my bike. I know some members on here have said just ride it anyway. I'm not doing that because this bike was designed to have coolant in its heads, and that's how im going to run it. I feel that the temperature will be increased without the coolant which will increase wear. Most importantly Harley knows that im not pleased with the reliability of my Limited and I'm not giving them a chance to say that I did something wrong by riding it with no coolant.
I agree that Harley may come up with a new redesigned part in the future, but I have been without a bike for the majority of the time since I purchased the bike in September. I have not been given a loaner and have been paying for something that I cant use. I didn't buy my bike to be a garage queen. I bought it to ride.
I have been a loyal Harley customer. I've owned 6 Harleys over the years and I have never had these kinds of problems before. Its easy for a company to have good customer service when there are no major problems with their product, but what separates good companies from the rest is when there is a major problem with there product, and how they handle the problem. Harley knows there are several problems with the 2014 Limited's. Some are major, and some minor but Harley and a lot of its dealerships have neglected their customers.
I'll keep everyone updated on how this plays out,..........

You have to do what feels right for you in the end but what are you going to do if you get Harley to buy your bike back? You won't be able to just buy another one, it WILL be subject to the same thermostat issue.

You are correct,... I'm considering going to a Victory. I realize that there are less parts available for the Victory, but at this point Harley is giving me very few options. I just feel that I keep getting the run around and I'm paying for something that I cant use.
Who knows,..... maybe Harley will fix the issues and make everything right. In the end that would make me happy. I feel that over the years that I have been loyal to Harley and that its now time for them to return the favor.
If it comes to that, why not just have them give you a regular Ultra, and the difference either in cash, or Harley Cash? Then you wouldn't have to worry about it. Unless of course you like that bigger screen tv, er, infotainment center.
You can get the 6.5 inch screen in a regular Ultra. Those of us who opted for it are mopping our foreheads in relief, that we seem to have "dodged a bullet" and are out there racking up the miles.
So, after Harley gets the kinks worked out of the system, make sure you come back in the summer and rag on us for our roasted thighs... 'cuz I was of the mind that I could add on a CB and heated grips, but the water cooling is one thing that can't just be added on from the accessory catalog.
I was contacted by the dealership's service manager and he said that he emailed the pics to his Harley area service operations manager, and that he wants me to bring in my bike so that he can do an inspection of the bike. I asked the service manager what that meant, and he was very vague. Just said that since they have already put a new thermostat housing on that the Harley rep wants to meet with me and do an inspection of the bike. Since corporate is involved I might be able to give some others on here some insight of how soon the problem will be solved after I find out today.
Thanks for the update, I'll be interested in seeing what happens. It's good your dealer got Corporate involved, let them know what's going on out on the streets, the more they hear the quicker this will get resolved. My dealer, using the case number I got when I called customer service, called them and they were overnighting a new part, should be ready by the weekend. Good Luck...
Did the MoCo not do any testing prior to putting these things on sale? How did this problem not become blindingly apparent during testing? And why were they then put on sale anyway?
Amazing. I have no doubt they'll fix it (eventually), but really - for this sort of money...

If this does not get resolved to your satisfaction, perhaps its time to contact one of your local TV or radio station and have them do a story to post on your local evening news...of course, if Harley offers to buy back your bike, you may have to waive that right...
In as much as we sometimes love and hate the news media, you may be able to leverage them this time in your favor, and if this ever gets to Harley's corporate HQ, makes national headline, I bet Harley's top brass will get off their "posterior" and put a fix to this once and for all...I even wonder of their top management even knows what is going on with their flagship models...
