I am seriously thinking about buying a HD BOOM stereo for my 04RK Custom. My question is, is it worth it? sound quality loud enough, volume worth the money, etc
I have the Boom system that mounts on the windshield. Decent sound, little expensive. Washes out at high speed but around town it's fine.
I added a cord and ran it to the curb side saddle bag where I keep my Iphone out of the weather. You can get better sound out of a aftermarket bat wing with stereo but I wanted to keep the Road King windshield to keep the look. I like the handlebar volume & on-off control but wish it had a way to shuffle the songs.
If I could find an aftermarket handlebar control I would mount 6" chrome cans with quality speakers on the front crash bar.
I had the one that mounted on the cross brace of the windshield on my Switchback. Don't expect hi fidelity sound because the enclosure is not that big and the speakers are only 3 inches or so. As far as volume, it worked fine with my V&H slip on. I liked that I could take off the windshield and not have the Mickey Mouse ears on the handlebars. If I had the windshield off it was because I was riding on a hot day locally and could live without the tunes.
