Anyone out there go non-HD/aftermarket on hardware for the saddlebags? I have the lowers and lids. I see several places online (Amazon and eBay) that sells complete kits ranging from (about) $149 to $250 and wonder if anyone has gone this route and what their results were. Doubtful HD makes the kits they put on the bikes, but I also don't want to shell out the cash if the parts are mismatched, too short, strip off easily...etc. The dealership wants 500+ for latches, locks, seals, hinges, and screws and has even said it isn't worth it. Thanks in advance.
A couple of the guys around here have the Mutazu Hardware and its fine, same as the stock HD stuff from the looks. Ive used their lowers and bag extensions and they are good quality.
If you decide to order call them direct and ask for Patricia of Gina and they will often give a 10% discount and double check the order to be sure all is OK
I will have to check them out. Thank you Xaran. I also found Eastern Performance that seems to have complete sets with the seals for 149. It doesn't appear as if there are covers, which I would buy from HD. Or Locks...which need to be matched to my ignition key. I may give both places a call.

Give us a call, we have the Fairing Plus Latch Hardware and Chrome Cover kits that come with everything except lid gaskets, locks, and pins. They are on sale for $147.95 out the door with free shipping.
Ironically...I did call around 4:45 today...I just didn't see this post yet. For the rest of you...great customer service and I will be using Eastern once I find out which part/kit I need.
Yes it is. The other kit was only two bucks more and had the seals. Few differences, but I will be using Eastern for sure. Maybe look at some lower fairings as well. I think he said they were $4xx.00. WAY cheaper than the painted ones from HD and not too far off what I was seeing on eBay for used sets.
Glad others have had good results with Eastern Performance. I am unhappy with their service. This is just my experience with them, and my opinion, so take it as you will.
I saw this thread and decided to give their saddlebag hardware a try. When the order arrived it was missing screws. Yeah, I could just run to the store and buy the screws, but I already paid for them so I asked Eastern Performance to send them. One email no reply, two emails no reply, third email I got a shipping notification from an automated system. The screws arrived a few days later, but they were the wrong screws. I went to the store and bought my own screws. My locks were still on order with the local dealer and arrived today. As I went to install the locks I discovered that the screw holes on the right side latch are not threaded. They are threaded on the left side, so this isn't a matter of a different kind of part or anything, they just didn't thread one of the parts for some reason.
I sent an email asking for return authorization. I'm disappointed more than angry. It frustrates me when anyone doesn't have the courtesy to respond to customers, and won't back up their product.
i got the latch kit with the seals but not the latch covers, from eastern and to be honest i am quite satisfied with the custoemr service, fast shipping and ease of ordering. the only thign i wasnt happy with was the screws from the latch keepers on the bag lowers that the little tabs on the lids stick into are too short for the abs bags i have * not an eastern performance issue more of a manufacturer issue. couldn't get the threads to start into the thingy. ended up going and buying longer screws but other then that i am both happy with the product and service of Eastern performance.
