I have the Willie G. Skull Hand Grips-56740-08 on my 2012 Ultra. While riding down the Natchez Trace Parkway, one of the end caps popped off. I stopped and the wife and I searched the area, never found it. You cannot buy a replacement, a new set costs $99. Wonder if anyone has lost one and wants to lose the other?
I lost a large chrome filler cap the same way - you'd think the darned thing would show itself, just so it can get back to where it belongs, but no! Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and dig deep. Surdyke has them for $80, if that will ease the pain......
Prob best you didnt find it, the road rash the thing prob sustained would end up generating a handful of explitives....just remember it the way it was in all its glory !!
You can buy replacement caps, actually there are a couple of different ones that you can purchase. HD has end caps with the skull on them (that the book says WILL NOT fit your grips, but they will) I purchased these to put on mine when I lost an end cap, (I actually think mine was taken, but it doesn't matter, it was gone). You may also purchase the smooth end caps that came on the grips from HD.
They only sell them in pairs, you can not purchase one, but look at the bright side, the next time you loose one, you will have the replacement already. I don't remember right off hand the number for the smooth caps I have a set, so I guess if your HD can't come up with the number and you have to have this replacement I could find the number for you. If you want the ones that actually have the skull to match the grips then the number for those is 56658-00, again the book says these do not fit your grips (as I have mentioned about lots if items, HD says this about a lot of items that actually do work with other items) but they do fit, I have them on my grips. Just in case though, I will say, they fit on mine maybe somehow they won't fit on yours, but I took the chance for $20 and bought them (even though I had already bought the ones that did go with the grips originally) and guess what, they work fine.
I went and checked my garage for the "third cap" but I haven't found it, I know I have it, but if you could see the amount of stuff, stuffed in my garage you would understand why I haven't found it. I think I may know where it is, but I can't check that area until I have more time, as it will take a couple of hours to get to and check.
Yes, that would likely work. My grips are the Willie G. with the skull on the grip, the ends are plain chrome. These would work just fine if they will fit. Thanks for your help.
Did you want the smooth caps? The ones RKZen posted are the ones that I gave you the number for in my first post. I can get you the number for the smooth caps if you prefer, but I say the Willie G caps will fit (although HD says they will not) because I have them and the same grips that you have.
I may also find the "third cap" within the next week or so, if you are not in a major hurry for it. I bought both replacement sets, I like the Willie G Skull End Caps and prefer them, they match the grips.
