Default help with abs question

i have a roadglide ultra and im thinking of putting apes on it i was going with 12in but decided to go with 14 instead.while i was doing this called a few steelers and gave me some crazy high prices saying because u have abs there is a speacial way to bleeding the brakes or something like that.i know i have bled brakes with abs on a car before and never had a problem. My question here is is there a speacial way to bleed them or do i really have to bring the bike to the dealer

Harley uses whats called a Digital Tech when bleeding abs systems. Ive heard of people working around it but if you've introduced a lot of air in your system you might not have a choice

I have heard that as long as you don't power up before bleeding you will likely get all the air out. Once you cycle the abs motor, you trap air in the system. Bleed them first, then you can start the bike and see if you have an issue. I have done cars that way for many years and never had an issue.

The only thing the DT does is determine if air is in the module then it can cycle the module to coax out the air..

But bleeding is bleeding, so do it yourself first. Then if you happen to need their help you can always go that route.

I use Speedbleeders to make it a simple one man operation. Some like the mity vac unit. Regardless, take ur time, run plenty of fluid through the lines to be sure, and you will likely be gud2go.
