what does this rubber do ??

Default what does this rubber do ??

Hi All,
just taken the rear wheel out and noticed a rubber "pointer" on the brake caliper carrier - anyone know what its for ???

For a minute there I thought you needed the birds and the bees talk......

That rubber piece is on my caliper also but not sure on it's purpose. ADVICE- leave it be....

cushins the caliper against the swingarm. Ive needed to replace a broken one and I could feel/hear a little tap back there when applying the brakes sometimes.good to keep a spare around when changeing the tire.

I believe that is the other end of a rubber bumper that is on the other side so you don't get metal to metal contact when applying the brake,

No harm in leaving it out, but it will get a bit noisy back there, and there will be metal to metal contact, and eventually, some wear will occur...

It is part of the rubber pad that cushions the caliper bracket against the swing-arm. It is there to install and hold the pad in place.
