If you are going to play Dr. and give advice...learn what the heck you are talking about.

That being said. I'm in the club. double lamenectomy ten years ago, lasted pretty good. Now sitting with s1, l4, l5 ruptured. One thoracic disc bad, and 3 in my neck. Waiting on a date for my lower back fusion. Been home on work comp since May 1.

Be wary if you have hurt yourself at work...my first Dr. tried everything to push me back to work...even ignoring my MRI's. Thankfully I own the company and in my state, MO. The employer chooses the provider....so I fired his *** and got a Dr. who is not a punk for the insurance company.

Really been helpful to see what you all do to be able to ride still. Encourages me for when I get better and go pick my new bike/bikes out.
Well in response, I wasn't playing Dr, I was giving my input on the question asked. And after reading some of the other responses, I gave more input on helping to cope with the situation than explaining the differences in how a disk acts between vertebrae.

Most people don't have 800 pound boxes of wood falling on them, and unlike the other poster, (thank you for your service, I did as well), don't have parachute malfunctions while training or what have you, and falling 800 feet, you guys are in the .01 percentage. I'm sure your situations are much more difficult than mine, and probably others posting.

In conclusion, my doctor, a spine specialist from Northwestern, is treating me. Between my sessions with him and much reading and DOING, I've been able to help MYSELF. If your Dr disagrees with anything I stated other than my #2 statement, I'd say you have a shitty Dr.

Small price to pay to be one of Americas finest!

Hats off to you, thank you for your service. Great American.

I am carrying issues with C5,6 and 7 with more at L4,5 from previous damage from wrenching for decades and auto incidents. Pain is there all day everyday but so far manageable with no drugs. Also have old age degenerative disc disease, wonder if this procedure would help that?

This looks promising more than the back surgeries friends and family received I have seen the after effects from after a few years.

Hi,
I have a slight disc protrusion between L5-S1. The pain is not excessive but is bothersome. I hope to ease a bit with physiotherapy, all this at 32 years old.
To better endure the pain that type of saddle used on your bike?

A good seat does help but I think you'll get the best results from a back rest. In gonna test ride a Hammock seat the next time I get by the dealer. Heard a lot of good things about it.

I'm 48 yrs old.I hurt my back 2 years ago playing hockey. Had painful sciatica down my right leg. I couldn't sit, walk or stand. My back was "angry" with me. Once I could walk a bit, I did a combo of PT, chiro and stretching. I also did a cycle of GH to help quicken the healing. It took 8-10 weeks to heal, it was hell, but I was able to resume playing hockey, golf and riding. When flare-ups happen, I use ice/heat or go to chiro.

By the way, sitting is one of the worst things for the back as the weight of your upper body gets pushed down onto your lumbar area. Too bad we can't ride standing...
