Default i should have bought a roadking!

my first harley was an flht and now eight harleys later, im back to an 07 flht...i never liked windshields and always rode with a fullface helmet....
on the flht, i hated looking thru the windshield, so i cut it down a few inches...then i got a lot of wind buffeting in my helmet....so i completely removed the windshield and its even worse....i cant get into that "sweet zone", where the air on my helmet is not deflected by my faring.....so i bought an 8 inchclearview shield with the lip and its not much better...i should have bought a roadking, so that i could ride with no windshield again.....
im thinking that i should find someone who has a roadking that wants a batwing and trade the essential parts to convert my bike to a roadking....(im so far upside down on my financing, that trading the bike in, is not an option)...has anyone undertaken such a project and would it be practical??

Take a look at www.fastaire.com. Specifically, they have a new shield coming soon: http://www.fastaire.com/Aero.html.

Also, you might want to consider "fairing wings". They are only about $30 (come in clear and black).

Literally, you may need to try several windshield heights. An inch in either direction can make a big difference. For me, the stock 4" windshield on the Steet Glide was useless. But I moved to a 6" shield and it made all the difference.

A fork baffle makes a big difference also. I have a 7 inch Cee Baileys with a fork baffle and I get no buffeting. I look right over the shield. I also have the wings but dont use them to much.

Its a heck of a lot of work to switch, doubt anyone would want that trade. Add the 20.00 baffel.

That new Fastaire shield looks good. I know it's not available yet but wondering if anyone has ordered one yet.

To answer your question...seems the other guys are suggesting a different windshiled, fairing etc. NOT SLAMMING THEM....
You can convert a EG to a RK. It is a lot of work. I actually just re-converted my RK to an EG. The previous owner bought the bike as a police bike (FLHTPI) and didnt like the fairing and converted it to a RK. I rode it like that for a couple years and always wanted a EG. Well the wife said...no new bike. So I decided that sine i basically had all the chrome and accessories on my RK that i wanted, that i would re-convert the RK back to a EG...but this time make it an ultra, minus the intercom.
I sold all my RK parts on ebay. Mainly this was the chrome, nacelle, headlights, tank, etc. Some of the EG parts i bought on ebay some i got new from the dealer. I can send you a quick list of the main parts you will need to convert from a EG to a RK. The EG to RK is much easier than the other way but you can plan on at least a month of work start to finish. The RK, RG, SG, EG are basically all the same bike (frame, engine, tranny, wheels, etc. Just cosmetics makes them different. If your EG is in decient shape you can defintley re-coop some of your $$$ by selling the stuff on ebay. I got over 1700$ from the RK stuff I sold...enought to pay for the paint job on the new EG. contact me on my real email address on my profile if you want additional details. I will post some before and after pics tomorrow.
