I think you would get most of that if you got a 2011 with the 103 power pak or 2012 and newer. You can always remove the CAT. That's cheap. If I was looking for one, that's what I would do.
What's the difference in the heads between 09 and 12?

The heads on '12 touring bikes and a few '11's are factory drilled for ACR's. '09 heads are not drilled for ACR's. Otherwise they are the same. The '12's I bought were new take-offs that came with the ACR's installed.

Good choice going for a Road King. I had a 2010 and the 2012 103 feels like a big block compared to the 96 motor. Other than that they're all about the same from 2009 to 2013. As said above, find a low mileage clean bike and you won't be sorry. Joe

I love my 1995 Road King, got a great deal on it (about ˝ of what a 09 goes for), and it has mods that I would have purchased anyway (apes, loud pipes, oil cooler, gauges).

I feel pretty good about the money I saved and as posted above, the Road King is timeless, takes a very sharp eye to tell my 95 from a 14, or from a 69 for that matter. Of course everyone on this forum can likely tell but 95% of the "regular" folks can't.

One thing I like about my Evo, on a Toys for Tots run on a hot day (in December..lol) we were pretty much parade speed for 18 miles. Newer bikes were pulling over left and right with heat issues, and my old 95 Evo with a carburetor kept on chugging along.

On bad thing about the pre-09 frames, some notice a "bagger wobble" in the frame as the engine isn't linked to the rear of the frame. That changed in 09. if you feel it and it bothers you, it's cured for a couple of hundred bucks by installing a brace.

I did a write up on my brace, not much to see so I didn't take any pics, but I did link a good thread where the cause of the wobble is discussed.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-c...le-issues.html

I predict no matter which year you get you will love your Road King. I love the way it rides on the highway and how nimble it feels at slow speeds and how handy it is with the bags. It is my go-to errand vehicle now.

Default Road Kings

I have a 2008 RKC and have ridden the 2012. I really enjoy the 08 but miss the 103" power and ABS. The 08 was the right bike at the right price at the right time.

I think that's a little high for a 2010 depending on what it was, saw a 2013 FLHR the other day with a lot of add on's and 855 miles, could of had it for $16,500.

The asking price is usually 2500-3000 above what the dealer got for the bike, I'm sure you can negotiate for lower. Does it have cruise? If so, then that'll be a relief on the longer trips, especially in Utah.
