Made up my mind on the biketronics 2180 amp and 7.1 speakers with the sony HU, I want to do this only one thime and be happy, I want to rock out loud and clear......any suggestions...anybody have this system installed on there bike?
Biketronics is the only way to go IMO, all others suck. The speakers from Biketronics you can't go wrong, all you have to do is upgrade to a better amp. I did the mistakes by buying J&M audio speakers, wow, crappy stuff. Also, I forgot the other speakers that I purchased but on that note for under $500 you can have one amazing system if you properly match the components, its not about how much you spend its all about how you properly match the components and get them calibrated... Good luck

Biketronics 2180 amp and 7.1 speakers with the sony HU are good choices. For a 2 speaker system I may of gone for RF pbr amp to save some cash and keep clear FM but the BT amp is a slightly easier install and has the lifetime warranty. Not knowing what Sony ya picked? I would recommend at least a bluetooth unit. Do check out the audio section. Good luck!

Which Sony HU? I went with the DSXS310BTX for the USB for a flash drive. Much easier than loading the tray each time.

I kept my stock head unit but added the J&M 7 1/4 speakers in the dash. I added lowers with Kicker 6.5 and a Soundstream 4 channel amp. I have already bought saddle bag lids but have not had them painted. I will add another set of kicker 6.5 to my lids.

Upgrading my head unit, speakers and amp made a world of difference. Worth every penny. Now I have to decide if spending about $1,000. For speaker lids, paint, amp and 6x9's is worth it.

USB is the way to go. Sandisk has a 32gig nearly flush thumb drive. I leave it in my Headunit.

Food for thought to save some money in the future. If you think you will be going with lids then you should buy the 4180. If you just do lowers, the 2180 will work just fine.

I have re-done my audio 3 times... and trust me IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON WHAT YOU SPEND!! You get what you pay for! After blowing lots of money on coaxial speakers that sound decent while the bike is sitting in a parking spot, but at highway speeds that are worthless because they cannot handle 100 watts RMS, with frequencies between 50HZ and 20,000HZ. The only way to get this performance is with a GOOD QUALITY component set, and a good amp! If your speakers do not have crossovers to separate these frequencies, then they will become distorted at higher volumes. Spend the $$ on a great set of components, and a powerful, efficient amp. The JL Audio XD series amps are compact, and powerful... and will blow away the RF PBR junk amps!

Interesting statement. Are you just taking about the 4 channel pbr, or the 2 channel as well. Never heard anything being driven by the JL amps, but the pbr300x2 is a nice amp.
