Default New Push Rod Covers

Went by the stealer today and noticed they had a set of the new gloss black push rod covers (with adjustable push rods) so since I was looking for something to do today I picked up a set and installed them.

Pretty straight forward install and they look pretty nice with the rest of my blacked out stuff. They appear to be powder coated not painted which is nice and they keep the middle cover which adds a nice contrast. They get kinda covered up with the air cleaner cover but I still like the look.

Added a couple not so great pictures with and without the air cleaner cover.

They do look good with a black themed bike! Really makes me want to start balking things out but after buying so much chrome I don't want to start over...lol

I just don't understand replacing perfectly good parts instead of having them power-coated?? Looks ok though.

Looks real good man, can you give some details on the install, did you have to remove the rocker covers to take them out or did you cut the factory push rods and then install the adjustable ones?

You can go that way but it's not necessary if you're willing to cut the OEM push rods with bolt cutters (which is what most people do).

Here is one link that helped me with the install (besides the included instructions)

There are lots of other threads on how to do this.

Just a couple pieces of advise from my experience.

- the paper clip and rubber band trick is great for keeping the cover up out of the way.
- Don't forget the o rings before you start extending the new push rods (you'll have to start over, happened to me on one of them )
- The instructions say to wait 10 minutes until the hydraulic lifter bleeds down and the push rod can spin freely. When I did this my bike was stone cold and it was a chilly day. I started to get a little nervous when after 10 minutes they didn't spin freely. It was more like a half hour for me and and I was starting to think I F'ed something up but all was good in the end
- Getting the the spring clips back on in the end was a bit of a PITA. I used a length of weed eater line to wrap around the back of the spring cover to give me more leverage to pull it down far enough with one hand while getting the spring clip in place with the other. Coulda used a third hand

Hope that helps
