Thinking of removing cat. Bike is completely stock. Good or bad idea?

Depends on why you want to remove it does the heat bother you, looking for some performance gains. I just bought V&H true duals for my SGS only to get rid of the heat.

Better sound, less heat and better flow! What's not to like? No reason not to unless you're under warranty and your dealer looks for that. My local dealer doesn't care as long as the warranty issue is not related to the decatting.

I installed Vance and Hines slip ons on my Crossbones which removed the cat and the dealer never had an issue with it. I have researched this on here and haven't found much on just removing the cat. All info is appreciated.
I plan on cutting pipe open to remove and weld back.

Lots of info on here. Keep searching! But ya, that's what I did. Just removed the small heat shield cut it, gut it, weld. Super easy. Nothing but positive gains! Wish I would have done it sooner is my only regret !

My dealer was more than happy to install VH Power Duals on my bike along with the rest of the stage one hardware. I've never heard of anyone locally that had any warranty issues with a cat less head pipe. No if you put stage one hardware on and didn't tune the bike and burnt up the valves from running to lean you will have a warranty problem. But even that wouldn't be due to the cat removal...lol

I'd think of a tune to go with it, might as well do the A/C too.

You will lose some heat. Better sound...well, you'll probably get a different sound but it might or might not be better.
