I am almost complete with my Electra Glide re-conversion. A little history on the bike if you dont mind. I bought the bike used a couple years ago or so. Thought I got a real good deal...considering what a brand new bike costs. The bike was originally an Electra Glide Police bike used by the Raleigh NC PD. They least the bikes from Ray Price HD in Raleigh, ride them for 10K miles and sell/turn them in. The previous owner bought the bike from Ray Price HD and didnt like the fairing so he converted the bike into a Road King. So I bought the bike from him knowing this...I was actually looking for a RK anyhow. So I ride the bike for a couple years and when the '07 bikes come out I am itching for a new Ultra. The wife says, NO WAY!. Well I had already been looking for a tour pak to use on the RK and found one about the time she says no way on the new bike. I decide no time like the present to "build" the bike I really want. I had already put the chrome, pipes, accessories on the RK that I wanted. So I figured I could ebay the RK parts to offset some of the cost of the re-conversion. Remember I was already planning on getting the tour pak for the RK. So the major components were the fairing, fuel tank, lowers, adn gauges. Well, like any major project, 100$ turns into 300$, two weeks turns into a month and "while I am in here let's do this" things always accur. I finally got the bike back together this weekend and went for a little ride. I LOVE THIS BIKE! I can say it is the bike i should have bought a couple years ago when I was looking for the RK. It took me a couple months from start to finish...the painter held me up for a couple weeks, waiting on the HD shop for parts another couple weeks, but I think it was well worth the wait. I still have some very, very minor issue that i am working with but nothing that I cant get fixed while riding. Here are some before, during and after pictures.
The first pic is the bike the day i brought it home (a RK).
The second pic is the bike the weekend before I started the re-conversion.
The last pic is the bike completed (Electra Glide Ultra --minus the intercom/CB)
I did something similar. A couple of years ago was looking for a Road Glide. Almost bought a new 05, but reality set in, and it was just a bit out of my price range. Kept looking, and found an 03 Police Electra Glide with 5K miles, and got it for alot less than the new one was. After a couple of months, I started toying with converting it to a Road Glide. So..... last winter I stripped it down and did the switch. I have one of the only Police Road Glides out there.
I did a photo story, and put it here in the project room section.
I know the feeling of doing something a little different and having it turn out well. It's rewarding!
Ride on, ride well.

Wow, you did one hell-of-a-job on your scoot. As for the neat garage in the background. It's all toperfect. It needs some grease and tools laying around for realism... It just don't look like a bikers garage. LOL
you guys should have seen my shop during this re-fit. It was a mess. Parts, tools and boxes everywhere. I did a real quick pick up before I took the pics this past Saturday. The shop is only about a year old...it took me 1 1/2 years to build it. Did that by myself too. I guess I have this hang up on paying someone to do what I am capable of doing. My wife tells me i am TOO organized.
