Default Looking for advice

Hey guys, in the next day or two i am going to order a tuner from FM. I have been looking at all the different tuners and have narrowed down to the PV or the micro tunner. I dont think i will ever go further than a stage 1 so do i really need the PV or will the micro tuner work? Any advice before i buy would be great, thanks. One more question, does FM give any discounts to forum members?

You said you "think" you'll never do more than a stage 1. Go with the PV and you'll be set it you ever "think" about doing more.

Good choice going with FM.

The Microtuner will work for Stage 1 and is better than a download or a Fuelpak but it is still only a fueler , adds or removes fuel. To tune it correctly you need to make changes to the timing as well and in some cases the front vs rear and many other parameters. With the PV you can clear codes, cal the speedo, self tune, tune for any additional modifications, raise the redline and so much more. IMO even for a Stage 1 it is the better choice

The flash tuner will allow you to do much more than the micro tuner. Even if you stay at stage one you might want to raise the rev limiter or adjust the timing curve or maybe check for spark knock. The flash tuners are just much more capable and it you ever decide to dyno tune the bike the flash tuner will allow the guy tuning the bike to make the changes necessary for the bike to run its best!

Here is another twist that most people won't tell you. If you know your not going to do anymore upgrades and can find a competent dyno tuner in your area, you can pay a license fee, use the dyno tuners tuner and have him dial it in for you, your ECM is reflashed for life, and your off riding.

For about $450 you could have it perfect and not have to mess with it. (just make sure the dyno operator knows his stuff)

If you end up buying a tuner, spend the money for a tuner that tunes all aspects of the bike...not just fuel.

Using the micro, or any add on, tuner does away with o2 operation, so the motor never operates in closed loop as designed. Don't know why anyone would want that?? PV/TTS/SEPT are the only tuners I'd even think about on modern FI bikes.

Thanks for all the advice. I was leaning towards the PV but needed some reinsurance.
Now, who has the best price on these? Or is FM the only way to go?

FM is the way to go but I think Eastern Performance has the best price on them.
