Does anyone know exactly which 08-down models (if any) came with just the front bag guards w/o holes for side rails? I want to add them to my street glide for a little more piece of mind
I could be wrong, but I think all touring bikes but the Ultra Classic.
These thinks show up in the "parts for sale" section or the "stock parts of bike" section.
There's also an aftermarket company that make some nice thick ones bout the same size as the front engine guards. These look good and pretty boss looking.
I don't think the any of the Electra Glide Standards (FLHT) came with saddlebag side rails so the bag guards should not be drilled. I think all of the FLHX models are the same way.

FLHX came with just the under bag supports - no saddlebag guards. the FLHT came with the guards without side rails. Same with the Limited. The EG Classic and Ultra came with side rails.
H-D will sell you a set of guards without the holes and be happy doing it.
