It works, it has been proven but it's a very personal choice. Many naysayers but the ones that use them are not the ones shouting....The just keep riding and riding and riding....Safely i must add...I am going to try it one day....Maybe this summer.

It's not for everyone, but the ones who have done it, have no complaints. If they did, then they didn't give it a fair shake.
To me it's not a point of if it will work or not. I believe it will given all the people using them. What stops me is the legality of it. If for some reason I had a rear blow out and caused an accident, there is a possibility that I could be sued for neglect given I was running a CT. Same reason I don't tow my 5th wheel with my old 3/4 ton truck, I was over the GCVWR. The 3/4 would have towed it just fine, lots people are out there towing overweight with no issues.
But I'm telling you, if you ever get in an accident and they can point to that, you can bet someone is going to try and use that.
Too me it's not worth the couple hundred bucks you would save.
Again, not debating IF it will work, and too each his own, just voicing my opinion on why I don't run one.

Call me crazy, but I wouldn't do it just because cars (car tires) don't lean and aren't designed too. But yeah, they would give much better traction and mileage, straight up. Don't see any race bikes on a road course with car tires either??? Yes I know harleys aren't race bikes but they are still motorcycles. I can tell the difference between a new round rear tire and a wore out, flat in the center, rear tire. Can only imagine a flat steel belted car tire would be worse??? But if you guys like it, fine.

Try it, Google it up. See if you can find an accident that has been proven that the CT caused it. I did all the research before putting one on my bike. Believe me, I think about safety as much as anyone. I did also contact my Insurance company, they said as long as it is DOT approved, there is NO problem. Anyway, I'm tired of talking about it. Either you like it or not, your choice and my choice. Nuff said.

Sorry I wasn't real clear. I started by saying I think they work given all the data. It's not this issue if it causes an accident or not, I wasn't implying that using a CT would be dangerous, it's the perception fi you ever got in an accident. I'm glad you checked with your insurance company, that was a good idea. however you and your insurance company don't control other people and what they will try to do to get money. Again, just my choice and opinion and was giving the OP something to think about, just like you did.

I personally don't run a CT on my bike which is my choice. However I don't see how someone could knock another person for making a personal choice of running a CT on their bike..............their bike, their choice.

You wanna run a CT on your bike, great..........you don't want to run a CT on your bike, great.

A friend of mine runs a CT on his VTX and he does just fine with it.

You're crazy.

do some research before commenting… plenty of youtube videos of bikes having no issues on roads such as The Dragon at Deal's Gap, etc. with the right air pressure you actually maintain a larger contact patch in the twisties.

Why don't you guys take this "discussion" to the Dark Side Thread. It's been beaten to death over there... No one on this thread is going to be changing anyone's mind so deal with it people...

I had a bunch of things happen to me running a car tire on my motorcycle I've got more traction I feel more comfortable riding through the cars turns and winding roads with loose gravel or leaves is no problem at all just point and ride right through it my ol lady still feels like having sex after a long ride due to a more comfortable smoother ride way better braking way better acceleration I run the Austone taxi tire 175/16 on my 2004 road king custom I will never use nothing else
