If they want it, they're going to get it.

Saw a video of a large van pull up next to a parked bike, 4 guys jupm out and throw the bike in the van and drive off, less than 10 seconds.

I do lock my stuff... and have insurance.

I think chaining 2 or more bikes together would deter the van thieves to move on to an easier target, however.

I lock mine and if no room in the tp for helmets, I use my helmet lock. About $15 from hd. They might get it but if it takes more time than just grabbing it as they walk by, they may leave it alone.

Insurance in Australia states, if parked in a public place the steering lock must be used
If they find after it has been stolen and the steering lock has not been tampered with, no insurance

All the locks all the time. Takes a second to lock the ignition and forks, even in my garage. I figure the thief can take an easier target than mine. Anyway I have been the recipient of somebody turning my ignition to accessory and turning on the kill switch, and coming back to a dead battery. On that day I had only locked the forks.

Ignition bags and forks locked always. And I have the factory Security System. When out of town I also have a disc lock. I'm just trying to inconvenience the thieves. Maybe they will take something easier.

If they want they are going to get it. But insurance company told me they will settle faster in the event of a theft "if I take all available precautions". I figure that way I get a new bike quicker.

Home is always in the garage so just the factory security system there. When I'm at work it's Ign and bags only (need a employee badge to gain access to parking lot). Anytime out in a public place I'll add the fork lock.

In my own garage I don't lock anything, figure the factory alarm will let me know if it is moved. Figure the disc brake lock if staying overnight in a motel may make a thief pick an easier target, but it's insured.
