Quality is first rate, perfect! No wobble when having a passenger. I did a 5000 mile cross country trip BEFORE I added a metal reinforcing plate, it fits across the inside and spreads the load of the bolts that attach it to the mounts, I did it for piece of mind as when I tour it gets fully loaded!
I purchased a HD liner bag so when we travel we can just lift it straight out and into our hotel room, it fitted perfectly.
The tour pac sizes are exactly the same as the HD one, even has the recess for the decal on the lid
I have seen that plate mentioned in few threads here on the forum, but can't seem to find it on the HD site. Does anyone have a part number?
I use the matzu as well, better off buying just the top and bottom shell and using all Harley hardware because the latches on the matzu are really cheap. We just did a 6800 mile road trip this summer and had a load on top of the pack and had no issues riding two up.
The plate: 90755-09 PLATE Tour-Pak reinforcing | FC/FF/KE $15.43
Also just as an FYI the link and picture of the tour pack above in paineys post are the older style tour packs you can tell by the side marker lights being centered and not wrapping to the rear like the newer pre 14 tour packs do. It makes no difference and his pack looks great, but if you had a color other than red it might stick out a little more. The picture of mine is the newer pre 14 style. I didn't realize this myself and ordered one of the older styles by accident, I keep it as a spare now because I keep hearing how cheap the matzu packs are. Its been a couple years now and I'm still waiting, Ive been offered by guys with broke stock Harley packs to buy it but would rather not have to order again if something does happen to my matzu pack.
I have a tour pack I picked up for small change and am curious if there is a way to tell the year. It will bolt onto my existing rack on the 87 flhtc I have, bought it without tour pack and will plug into feed, two conductor, to power side running lights. Just curious.

Not without a picture, post one out and we can guess a range of years it could be from but if its after market there no telling how old it is.
Ok so I ended up with a 08 tour pack. I know I'll have to drill new holes for the mounting...is there a hoop that goes with these mounts or just the flat mounting surface is it. And does anyone have a picture of their set up.
