Kind of hard to describe, but I am trying to chase down a noise/vibration in the front end of my 12 Harley Ultra Limited (16,000 miles). When I lean the bike just a little (like to change lanes) I get a little bit of a whirr noise and the slightest hint of a vibration. Doesn't happen when running straight, or when making the same maneuver to the right. Only to the left. Also does not happen when banked hard (like for a sweeper turn, or a turn at an intersection).
First thought was a bearing just starting to act up. Or maybe a little loose? Or could just be tire whine, but only on one side?
Any ideas or anybody ever have this happen to them? Figured I would throw it out here first. My next step is pulling the front wheel and checking the bearings....
I had the same problem on mine. Dealer found bad wheel bearing and replaced it. No change in vibration. They and another dealer said cupped rear tire was the cause. I just put new tires on the bike but it'll be a few months before I can ride. Hopefully that'll fix the problem because warantee is over. Joe
I've changed my front tire twice, had the bearings checked and repacked and I have the same exact issue. Going down a smooth road and just shifting to the left it still feels like a bad bearing but isn't.
It's so minor I don't let it distract me too much. Everything is solid and tight.
I've wondered if my alignment may be off just a little.
I'll be interested in hearing others comment on this post.
Had same symptoms on my then new 12 RKC,took it for granted dealer had checked tire pressure, they hadn't.Filled the tires up to proper pressure and it went away.
