Cost effective? That's over $40 a gallon. Just get gas 10 miles earlier?
$40 big deal. My whiskey costs $52 a bottle. I love riding the N.C. mountains. When you really get up there, the gas stations are far from each other. And once you get off the highway, you still will have a good drive until you get to a station. And in those small towns, I always fear that they'll be closed.
No my friend, $40 means nothing to me. For peace of mind, I'll head to my local dealer to see if they sell them, if not, I'll just order one online.
How many of you have actually needed the extra gas?
I had a bottle of octane boost leak in my saddle bag, even though it didn't touch my rain gear I had to suffer with the smell for 4 days of riding in rainy weather. I had the bottle of octane boost in the bag after I got a bad batch of gas which cause excessive pinging. I never had an issue with bad gas after that occasion.
Even if I go by a sign warning me that there is a long distance to a gas station, I fill up, even if I have 3/4s of a tank of gas.

gas station far from each other, yet you are going to buy the can that will get you an extra 10 miles? I guess you'll need more bottles to fill up the saddlebags?
Check out REDA INOVATIONS, it might be just what you are looking for.
I have one and offers great piece of mind. Filled it with non E about 6 months ago so when I find another non E station (traveling) I guess I need to put it in my tank and refill.

Yeah man, exactly what you said. Now go play with yourself
TIP: For odors in your bags, take a paper bag, put a few chunks of regular charcoal (NOT the type with lighter fuel already soaked in it) and leave it in your bag closed when not riding for a week or so. The charcoal will absorb the odors. May take a couple of change outs with fresh charcoal but this is old school odor control.
Got me the Reda last year before my 5k trip and never had to use it. Although it's cheap insurance, I'm not so sure if I'll bother hauling it around with me again unless i ride some place that has extended distances between gas stations, like in Alaska.
