I have the vn power header on my 2011 streetglide. Right after the x where the two pipes come out the top pipe had a crack in it. This happened last summer, notice when putting new clutch cable on due to putting new handlebars on. At this time header was just over a year old. Now to current date bike is at dealer getting things done tech calls and tells me pipe below is also cracked but almost all the way around. He says he has seen this several times before.
So back to last year I contacted vn and told them about problem but to no avail said nothing they could do. I am 38 and been buying solely vn products since I raced dirt bikes when I was 10. I have owned many bikes and to the date 11 Harleys, All sported some kind of vn pipes. Really disgusted with this situation and was wondering if others have seen this same problem with there header? Should I change companys after all this time or is this just a problem with these headers?
Never liked vance and hines, they are badge Wh0re$. I heard all the horror stories about the T/H and mine is fine after 4 years on the bike. Might be a bad batch that was shipped to your local area never heard of it before.
I just mounted a set of V&H Power Duals on my 2014. I also have been using their exhaust sytems for years. I think their quality control is not what it used to be. In the past two years I've had a few incidents with them for this. When I mounted this set of pipes I noticed the exhaust system did not mate properly at the transmission bracket where the front headpipe has a bracket welded on it. The hole from the bracket at the tranny did not match up with the hole in the pipe. I had to loosen that tranny bracket to make it fit and retighten it. When I did that and started the bike, it had a rear exhaust port leak. Now I'm not new at this at all. I've mounted dozens of headpipes etc. I had to redrill and enlarge the hole in the tranny bracket plus use OEM Harley Cone style gaskets at the head rather than the smaller SE type that came with the pipes. Mounting the 2-1 solid type headpipes are always a bit tricky since it's "one piece" to the head rather than two separate pipes like dresser duals. I'm thinking maybe you bike may have suffered from a stressed bracket or similar. Did you mount them yourself?? What's up V&H, you used to be the leader of the industry.

wondering if a mount problem stressed these areas ?
I am not particularly a booster of the V&H.
I have seen more than one rider damage a header system ( various brands) by mounting so that the system is stressed or contacting the frame...or by mangling when removing mufflers ( or drilling, hammering and etc. on mufflers)
My brand new Power Header system would have been mount stressed, that's the point. Anytime the mounts dont match like mind didn't, it's not a good sign. Mine caused a exhaust port leak but I strongly suspect it would have stressed the pipe to breaking welds in time. Someone at V&H needs to get their act together. These pipes are on their site to fit the 2014 models, so it should freakin fit without mods. They also should put in cone type header gaskets with all the one piece pipes they sell rather than the SE type skinny gaskets, I ended up spending another $15 to replace new gaskets. The skinny ones work great on two piece pipes but no so good on one piece.
