I'm one of those guys who always has to reinvent the wheel. Why not a mount just like that with the rods permanent on the mount itself ? Engage the TP on a lower rod to support the weight, then rotate towards the wall and engage the TP latches on rods that are on the wall mount ? I have to park so close to the garage wall I can't have my TP hung horizontal or I'd hit it with the car. It works in my head, I may have to see why it wouldn't work in the garage.
I think it would work fine. That's what I had in my head when I went looking and thinking of doing one myself. I'm just not sure it would be any easier taking off. I know I'm always futzing with those latches when the Pak is horizontal and no real weight is on them.
But yea, I get you. I was already thinking this morning of how to make the bottom rod permanent on the wall so I didn't have to mess with the Velcro strap. Oh, I need winter to be over soon...
I can just hear the wife now "You paid $100 for that thing and now you're cutting and drilling holes in it?!" LOL.

i made a mount similar to that (only upside down) when i had a tourpak on my 2007 road king. i used two pieces of angle iron mounted vertically. put 4 bolts in, two at the top, and two at the bottom facing inward. used some nylon bushing on the bolts to 'fatten't them up, and to make them not so rough on the mounting surfaces of the tourpak mount. worked great. until i tried it with my 2010, apparently, in 09 they changed things up enough that it didn't fit quite right on the wall anymore. the front of the tourpak and the forward mounting points sit too close to the wall. they would have to sit a little further out from the wall than previous.
not insurmountable, just haven't sat down to figure out how to best do it.
