I have a 2011 flhtk I put new Rhinehart slip on pipes on it at the end of last year. I have noticed some black soot on the fender and bags is this normal. 5200 Miles, all services are up to date.

 

I would have thought that would make it leaner and not richer?

 

I have seen several of the Rineharts that have carbon deposits come out around the end cap to pipe joint. I would guess they are little loose fit. Sound good though.

 

I have it all the time, with my last 96"/w cams and with this 120r. Both are tuned properly and everything is tight on mine. After every longer ride I have the black soot spots all over the rear of my bike. Rineharts on both, D&D is almost finished being installed just waiting on an exhaust bracket to get here and I'll see if it had anything to do with the rineharts.

 

That is a strange occurance to me as black soot is a sign of a rich fuel setting. When you install a new AC, pipes it usually makes for a lean mix. May take a Dyno run to see what is going on. I'm guessing about the AC. Later Fairshake
