Default Clutch Question

I have trouble at times with finding neutral on my 2012 street glide. Also when I fire the bike up for the first time before a ride, the bike lurches forward a little with the clutch pushed in. Is this a sign that the clutch needs adjusting?

Yep, it's not disengaging completely. Have it done before you ride anymore. A buddy of mine let it go and burned it up in less than 1,000 miles.

Clutch adjustment and check the primary chain while your at it, might need adjusting too.
Just noticed you have one of those new machines with auto adjusting primary.

Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny makes neutral easier to find too. At least it does for me, shifts like butter.

A little bit of caution, make the adjustments on a cold transmission. No engine heat on it. Adjusting a warm or hot tranny will give you some problems on the clutch finding neutral.

+1. Let it sit overnight. Most dealers adjust hot even though the manual specifically staets cold. I guess they can't wait the four hours+ for it to cool sufficiently. Another reason to do it yourself. Mine was never right from dealer. Did it myself and it's correct. Follow the procedure (service manual) to put slack in the cable, then adjust the pack. Other folks have some different procedures, but I followed the bible and it works fine.

You will find that the bike will lurch forward when you put it in gear if you haven't ridden in a while and the fluid has drained off of the clutch plates.
